Cheshire Shield Finals Antrobus GC 3rd September. Runcorn GC
beat Vicars Cross in the A Team final and Royal Liverpool GC took the honours
in the B Team Finals from Bromborough.
Portal
Beginners 9hole Presentation 1st September 2007. Following
the last of the competitions at Portal for beginners, the girls enjoyed
sandwiches and chips in style at the newly built complex. The Portal Cup was

Beginners 9hole Presentation 25th August 2007. Following
the last of the competitions at Styal for beginners, the girls enjoyed a meal
and presentation. Lexi Garnett (photo)
was the overall winner of the Styal Cup and all girls were presented with a
medal for attendance.
Northern
Girls Close Championship Swinton Park GC 14th August. In very
difficult playing conditions Gina Brown (Mere GC) recorded a two round gross
score of 151 to take runner’s up spot in the championship behind overall winner
Rebecca McGinley from Durham with a score of 147 which included a second round
course record of 69. Harriet Wilson (Heswall) was also runner up in the under
16-over 14 age category with a 155 total for the two rounds behind Helen Searle
from Yorkshire on 152. In the same age category Zoe Evans (Styal GC) won the
best net total of 148 (photo)
Northern
Jamboree Wakefield GC 7th-8th August. The Junior
team of Gemma Clews, Abbie Cowlard, Charlotte Leathem, Flossie Logan, Fraya
Rowlands & Imogen Wilson took part (photo)
and successfully brought home the trophy to Cheshire (photo) with 88 points winning on a count back
from Durham also on 88 points. Lancashire came 3rd with 83 points,
Yorkshire 4th with 79 points, then Northumberland 78 points and
finally Cumbria 66 points. Well done to all.

Jones for earning her first career victory overseas. Laura, a
freshman at Oklahoma City University, shot rounds of 70 & 66 to gain top slot
and together with the team captured the Oklahoma Intercollegiate for Women
Title at the Territory Golf Club on 16th October.

Brown for winning the JJB Sports Manchester Evening News Women’s
Championship Final at Marriot Worsley Park for the second year running
Kim
Jackson & Carole Ryder (Tytherington) for finishing 3rd at
the Grand Final of the Ping 4 Ball Better Ball played at the Marriot Forest of
Arden with a 2 under net 70. Maureen Nicholson (Wilmslow) jointly won the
putting challenge
Sue
Wilson & Wendy Hurst (Sandiway GC) for their fine performance in the
Peugeot Coronation Foursomes Grand Final on Monday 24th September at
St Andrew’s, Duke Course. They were 1 point behind the final winners finishing
in third place on count back.

Wild for being invited to join the Team England Futures Select
North squad for 2007-2008.
Charlotte
Leathem & Charlotte Wild for their great performances in the
M.E.N. Great Manchester Junior Open at Sale claiming the girl’s section &
gross prizes respectively. Overall winner was Nikki Foster from Lancashire.

Wild for making the cut at the Ladies British Open Amateur Stroke
Play Championship at Conway GC despite a 10 on the par 5 16th in the
second round. Complete scoring details can be viewed on the LGU website
Maureen
Nicholson & Linda Turner (Wilmslow) who won the Ping 4 Ball Better
Ball Regional Qualifier at Marriot Worsley Park on the 20th August
with a net 69 on a card playoff from another Cheshire pairing of Terri Byrne
& Mel Greaves (Lymm). The top 8 qualifiers, which also included from
Cheshire Kim Jackson & Carole Ryder (Tytherington) net 71, Helen Rogers
& Sue Morrissey (Peover) net 71 & Rosie Hadfield & Verity Gilbert
(Bramall Park) net 72; will compete in the Grand Final at Marriot Forest of
Arden on October 2nd. Good Luck in the finals.

Club on 1st August for the Peugeot Coronation Foursomes representing
Sandiway G.C. Good Luck in the Grand
Final on the Dukes Course at St Andrews on 24th September. Michelle
Smith & Emma Szymura (Wychwood G.C) came 4th in the Area Final
played at Ulverston on the 16th July.

Wild for reaching the KO stage of the Girls’ British Open Amateur Championship
at Southerndown Golf Club. Unfortunately, Caroline Masson from Germany beat
her, in the first round.

Brown for spectacular shots of the day reported from the Royal
Birkdale Scratch Trophy on 3rd August - an eagle three on the 440yd
sixth and an albatross two on the 422 yard 13th
Charlotte
Wild, Kate Whitmore & Rachael Goodall for reaching the KO stage
of the English Girls Close Amateur Championship at Old Fold Manor Golf Club.
Unfortunately all lost in the first round, Charlotte and Kate narrowly on the
20th & 19th holes respectively
